Essential Oil Gum

Essence is infused with Young Living essential oils, giving the consumer the natural benefits of oils along with the comfort of chewing gum. One flavor (grapefruit, orange, and lemon) stimulates the brain and aids in alertness. The other, lavender, aids in relaxation. Keeping the key market in mind, this gum enticing young adults with an intriguing geometric pattern that catches the eye of a young, modern customer.

Overcoming naive impressions to figure out how things really work

Primary packaging was inspired by Trident brand gum in shape and use. The two pockets of gum are perforated in the middle, allowing for sharing among friends. It was important to continue the hexagonal pattern around all sides of both packagings to a create cohesive brand and striking visuals that can be spotted from across the aisle. Because Essence is a newly marketed brand, user acknowledgement is key.

Essence is a product of a branding assignment where I was asked to create an original chewing gum flavor and the packaging for it. All elements are designed and built according to FDA standards and point-of-sale interaction.
